Where’s some good mountain biking in the American Southwest?

Question: Where’s some good mountain biking in the American Southwest?
I’m a Chicago boy and going to school at Purdue. My rides consist of Brown County, IN and some local trails at home and here at school. I might be setting up a spring break trip. Where can I go, online or other places, to get some (good) information on self-guided mountain biking trips in the southwest? I’m thinking about the southern Utah, northern Arizona area.

What are some places in Asia that have decent road cycling and bike racing scenes?

Question: What are some places in Asia that have decent road cycling and bike racing scenes?
I have heard that in some places, cyclists are not tolerated. I have also heard that some places have racing scenes where most riders are sketchy. I am moving there next summer and would like to check out as many places as I can in China, Japan, South Korea, etc., assuming that I’ll have to stay away from huge cities. Any advice on where to go would be appreciated. Thanks

Moving “there”?? Where? Asia isn’t one country, but many…There’s cyclists in Taiwan and China. But unless you speak the language, you’ll be out of luck.
And you’ll need a very big wallet to travel to that many countries.

What (if there are any) are some disadvantages to having a racing bike for mainly trail riding?

Question: What (if there are any) are some disadvantages to having a racing bike for mainly trail riding?
I currently have a TT-R 225 and would eventually like a 250, but most manufacturers don’t make a 250 trail bike. My favourite manufacturer is Kawasaki and i was thinkin of a kx 250f. But what differences will i find in the trail on the racing bike. What differences in general?

Where can I get some mountain biking shoes?

Question: Where can I get some mountain biking shoes?
What are some good sites online to shop for mountain biking shoes? Both of the local bike stores near my house have an extremely limited selection of shoes (like three pair each). Performance and Nashbar seem to have a good selection, but never the right sizes. What I’m looking for is a shoe (SPD) that you can get off the bike and walk around easily. I’m not looking for the type of shoe that looks like a road shoe with a little tread. Any help would be appreciated.

Honestly, I would try a few more Local Bike Shops, even if you have to travel a bit. Shoes vary greatly in their geometry, and it’s relatively easy to end up with a pair that doesn’t fit well. At least try them on at the shop, and then if the price differential is huge, consider getting them online.
if you can’t find what you want online at Perf or Nashbar, try REI. Decent selection and they’re having a sale. They are also good to deal with.
