Answer by John R
The Honda XR100 R looks like a race bike, but it really isn’t.

It lacks good racing suspension and the engine isn’t powerful enough.

I would suggest you just go out and purchase a used 85cc 2-stroke, such as a KX.85.

To make the XR competitive you will need to do the following:
1. After market front forks
2. After market rear shock.
3. Port and polish the intake and exhaust ports.
4. 5 angle valve job on your valves.
5. Larger cam with longer duration.
6. Roller lifters.
7. High dome piston for greater compression.
8. Larger carb.
9. Open up the air box to get more air in.

I’ll stop here, there are more.

Those modifications are going to cost you a few grand, the shock and fork alone are going to run you close to $ 2000. For the that much you can get a used 85cc 2-stroke that you can put premix in, race and be competitive.

I advise that you do not waste the money on the XR and dump that money into a racing 2-stroke.

Whats the fastest 250cc 4 stroke motocross bike for racing?

Question: Whats the fastest 250cc 4 stroke motocross bike for racing?
I’m 14 and 6’3, i want to get into motocross racing, price doesn’t really matter, i want to know which one is fastest and the best, people have told me I am very good, I currently have a honda crf230f but its an enduro bike.

Well I’m very partial to two-strokes i know everyone races the big 250s nowadays but depending on your weight the best bike to race would be a two-stroke 125 like a KTM 125sx or Yamaha yz125. But if you want to stick to four-strokes the 2010-12 Honda crf 250r bikes have proven to be some of the most popular along with the 2011 Kawasaki kx250f was declared the best all around bike last year, ill include a link to that comparison and good luck.

Motorcycle Racing – Mondello Park (IRL) – Clubman’s 201-1010 – April 2010 – GoPro HD

Round 2 of the 2010 Irish Clubman’s Championship in Mondello Park (11th April). A poor qualifying session meant I qualified only 27th. This video is of Race 1 where I got a decent start and finished 15th. Unfortunately, the GoPro HD did not record Race 2 (must have done something wrong) which is a pity as I felt it was a better race with more scrapping than Race 1 (finished 12th in race 2). As for the edges on either side of the picture: they are there because the whole I drilled in the fairing simply wasn’t big enough and I did not have time to test the viewing angle before racing. This will be fixed for next time though! ;o)
