I’ve done that by using clamps on the seat stays and attaching a rack that way(Blackburn and other rack companies make rubber coated clamps, your local bike shop should have a box of them stashed in the back of the store somewhere). It’s usually NOT recommended by the manufacturer, but I’ve never had a problem with it. The alternative would be to use a BOB trailer, that way you don’t have to attach anything to the frame and risk damage.

Looking to buy a really nice cyclocross bicycle…?

Question: Looking to buy a really nice cyclocross bicycle…?
I’m looking for a super-light, all-terrain cyclocross bike and am interested in ones by ridley, surly, bianchi, kona, etc. Any recomendations? Particularly would like to find some independent bike companies that make really cool machines.

There are a ton of good choices out there. Looking for really cool Cyclocross stuff I’ve always been an IF and Felt Fan.

This is the IF bike available in steel or titanium

This is the Felt bike

This doesn’t fit with the independent bikes but man this is a sweet sweet ride.

What type of bicycle can be used for light mountain biking and riding around my neighborhood?

Question: What type of bicycle can be used for light mountain biking and riding around my neighborhood?
I am looking for a bike that I can use not only for easy mountain biking trails, but also for riding around my neighborhood. I have seen hybrid bikes and Im not totally sure what those are. Can someone please help me or point me in the right direction!!! Thanks

Answer by agb90spruce
You sound like a candidate for a hybrid. They are called that because they are a cross between a road and mountain bike. The frame is similar to a mountain bike. Wheels are the same diameter as road bikes (700C) but narrower and tires have less aggressive treads than a true mountain bike. They often have front (and maybe seat) suspension, but they will usually have mountain bike style handlebars and gears. They are well suited to city roads, bike paths and hardpack trails, but being a hybrid are less suited to long, fast road rides than a road bike or to rough/demanding trails than a mountain bike. See the article at the link.

Cyclocross: The steeplechase of bicycle racing

Pedal. Sprint. Turn. Dismount. Run. Jump. Remount. Pedal. Oh, yeah, and breathe. A combination of skill, speed, endurance, and concentration, cyclocross is the steeplechase of cycling. It began in late 19th-century France when, in winter, cyclists veered off-road and over jagged terrain to maintain their fitness and improve their bike-handling skills. Yesterday’s off-season is today’s pro circuit.

Second Video; updated with recent(ish) races. Not as good as the first one and probably should of posted it sooner but… Anyway Enjoy! Song – Rollover DJ – Jet Once again apologies for the water mark
