Round 2 of the 2010 Irish Clubman’s Championship in Mondello Park (11th April). A poor qualifying session meant I qualified only 27th. This video is of Race 1 where I got a decent start and finished 15th. Unfortunately, the GoPro HD did not record Race 2 (must have done something wrong) which is a pity as I felt it was a better race with more scrapping than Race 1 (finished 12th in race 2). As for the edges on either side of the picture: they are there because the whole I drilled in the fairing simply wasn’t big enough and I did not have time to test the viewing angle before racing. This will be fixed for next time though! ;o)
Bicycle Dreams is the true story of the Race Across America, a 3000-mile bike race that challenges riders to pedal across the country in just ten days. See bicycledreamsmovie.com for more.

@hironimus2006 You won’t see me try it! LOL Lunatic!
Have you seen the video where the rider touches his head to the pavement while cornering? I would love to see that shot with the GoPro helmet mount…
Good video, wow shifting early ALOT ! !
@Steffano2002
ive a 30th nite before so dunno if i be in best of health, lol think they run a kilmac one on sat or sunday too, try hit that one up if all else fails, they met at garage there and usualy go the same route we took that day, does be good crack, decent pace!!
@juicer404 Well I shat myself when I found out he was an insider! He was so cool in fairness!
This chat made me want to organise another run up the Gap for Saturday if you’re interested! Only if it’s dry though… Have a thread on Biker.ie and all! ;o)
@Steffano2002
hahaha sounds like me alright, yeah was good day, we had an insider with us that day too if i remember correctly, wink wink. haha
@juicer404 I remember that spin alright! You pulled a mighty wheelie that lasted for ever at the start of the Gap run!
Great craic that day! Had fun over the bumps on the rollercoaster road too! lol
@juicer404 Must have been a good while back Juicer! Haven’t been on a Biker.ie run in years! Must go for one soon actually! ;o)
nice vid stef, met u before on biker.ie run, juicer2006
this fucking video is FUCKING AWESOME
@Codyw2011 They are extremely strong Cody! Although the base plate I used in this video was actually drilled into the fairing to make it mighty strong. But I’ve used the sticky mounts for other videos and trust me, the camera isn’t going anywhere! ;o)
Are the adhesive mounts really that good? I want to get one of these cameras but im afraid it would fall off if it was being help on by a type of tape.
@rockingmrkiller Thanks rockingmrkiller! ;o)
i lik the cam how u put it man nic driving be safe yo
@BuddhaMaster84 Thanks BuddhaMaster! ;o)
The camera angle is just great- it looks like a friggin mad-eye chasing some bikes!
that track looks to be a little dirty i hope you didn’t get to many slides,
@r1richie I know! Was a glorious day! Will be glorious this week-end as well for the Training Day apparently! But “no mon’ no fun” so I won’t be there to enjoy it…
(
@wackoguywatch Sorry I missed your post Wacko! Answer to your question is above (see reply to “d4dphotos”). ;o)
@d4dphotos Well I mounted the camera inside the fairing and drilled a hole for the camera to “see out”. The front fairing on the bike has a nice flat bottom part (just above the mudguard basically) onto which I mounted (drilled) one of the GoPro 3M Adhesive Mounts. This means the base is rock-solid and there is enough clearance for me to manipulate the camera as I have a Harris nose bracket that is not as bulky as the OEM part.
Hard to explain but hope this makes sense! ;o)
Very nice video there. Where exactly had you got the gopro and how did you mount it…….sticky pad ? Just there is no shake at all which is great. Nice racing too….
wow sun are u sure this was mondello? LOL
Great documentary and amazing race! I plan to do this ride for my ow personal achievement, trying for under 14 days. A support van, crew of 3 a few extra bikes and a decent budget for the run…
HM, 15,000 miles so far on the road…
Oh my goodness I’ve been asking my friends that question did they ever feel that missing a “hole” and they all said yes they have, but not anymore and it’s all thanks to Jesus ^_^ I felt it very very deeply.. it bothered me for months, but not no more thanks to Jesus
.
@ryryhart Although your correction of the guy’s sentence was correct, you are wrong about worst not being a word. Would you like me to use in a context you can understand? You are the worst speller.
@Bhousm76
RIP, QDEP. Sad news.
@Bhousm76
RIP, DEP. Sad news.
I fucking love biking, but I didn’t know that cyclists were amateur metaphysicians.
@ryryhart
Worst is a word. It is terrifying that I need to say this to a 31 year old.
topbox media are filming the design, build and first land speed record attempt for a 100% wooden bicycle.
“No bolts or screws, just wood and glues!” as Michael Thompson the bike’s creator says.
View our profile to watch a short teaser to raise awareness and help raise some money for the charity “Shelter Box.”
The resulting documentary will I’m certain be very, very entertaining…
Jure Robic…one of the best. a great insperation…Rest in Peace..
Winner of 5 raams, including 2010, Jure Robic was killed in a traffic accident on a forest road near his home. May he rest in peace. He will be missed.
i heard about this on radiolab, the bicyclist’s necks give out and have to duck tape their necks to their backs so that they can stare straight ahead. INTENSE! these guys are warriors
Dreaming to cycle the RAAM myself one day this movie is a great inspiration. Great stuff! Watch it over and over again.
Wonderful video. You all guys have the real cycling spirit.
This film is a finalist for Best Documentary Film for Beloit International Film Festival 2010.
The RAAM is a dark distant distant cousin of the mainstream media Cycling you see in Europe. ULTRA Cycling, as it’s known is huge actually. Starting with the 1200km Paris Brest Paris, which was established before the T.D.F., look it up.
Ultra is more like climbing Everest, there are no prizes, if you live and you summit, that is your prize. The glory is yours, not the medias.
It’s more than a bicycle race.
And believe me, many Pro’s have gone to RAAM, and not finished.
worst isn’t a word, it is worse unless you mean bratwurst.
tour and RAAM are tottaly different races they cant even compare. RAAM is 10 days of suffering!!! You can even see Marko Baloh in hospital 2:20 .
Yeap, but I personally think that the athletes of the Tour are better prepared than you, think about it, those guys have a lot of money and time for training, I dont try to say that your race is bad, but in the tour they have top of the line racers, instead this kind of races is more heart and soul than competition…
the tour de france is a few weeks of racing every day for a few hours. in this race he said that for 24 hours the guy was riding all but 8 minutes. that sounds like a different race than the tour de france.
American races are not worst than Tour de France…
where can i download/get this movie??!!
Beautiful clip. thanks.
